Mythical Facts about Artemis for Kids
Fact 1: She was the goddess of the moon, chastity and the chase. Her symbols were the bow and arrow, hounds, bears, deer, snakes, the moon and the cypress tree.

Fact 2: Artemis was the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the goddess of the hunt and the moon and the twin sister of Apollo

Fact 3: She was one of the 12 Olympian gods who resided on the summit of Mount Olympus

Fact 4: Powers: She had the power of transformation, prophecy, healing, poetry, music, magic, purification, death and hunter of souls, action and temperance

Fact 5: A great temple was built in her honor at Ephesus, which became one of the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World".

Fact 6: Artemis valued her chastity so highly that she took terrible measures against anyone who even slightly threatened her

Fact 7: She was extremely possessive and selfish. She would wreck revenge on anyone who did not obey her wishes

Fact 8: She had twenty Nymphs as handmaidens to watch her dogs and bow while she rested.

Fact 9: She obtained her bow and arrows from Hephaestus and the Cyclops

Fact 10: She obtained her hunting dogs from Pan, the god of forest who he gave her seven female dogs and six males.

Fact 11: She featured in the legends and myths relating to the Ceryneian hind, Endymon, Actaeon, Niobe and the Satyrs

Fact 12: The Ceryneian hind was one of the five deer that served the goddess. The Ceryneian hind was briefly kidnapped by Heracles (Hercules) as part of his 12 labors.

Fact 13: She she catches sight of the sleeping Endymion, and immediately falls in love with him. However, their love was forbidden as he was a man and she was a goddess

Fact 14: She was bathing naked in the woods by a hunter named Actaeon. He stopped and stared, the goddess was affronted and punished Actaeon. She forbade Actaeon to speak threatening to turn him into a stag if he disobeyed. He ignored her and was transformed into a stag. His own hounds then turned upon him and tore him to pieces.

Fact 15: Artemis and her twin brother Apollo attacked Niobe and her 14 children for disrespecting their mother, Leto. Niobe cried so much she turned into a pillar of salt
